I would like to remind everyone that as cooler temperatures set in, local wildlife, particularly deer, have begun to move more frequently, posing a potential hazard for motorists. The Clay County Sheriff's Department advises residents to exercise extra caution while driving, especially during dawn and dusk when deer are most active.
Deer collisions can be dangerous and costly, often leading to injuries and vehicle damage. To minimize the risk, motorists are encouraged to stay alert, reduce speed, and use high beams when driving at night, especially in areas known for high deer populations. Also refrain from distractive driving and wear those seatbelts.
Let's all enjoy this cooler weather and stay safe on the roads. As always God bless and lets all work together to keep Clay County great!
