The suspects were apprehended in Houston, MS by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the North Mississippi Narcotics Task Force agency. Scott stated investigators are still working on identifying the fourth individual and expecting an arrest in the near future. 

Clay County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have arrested three individuals in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping. Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, four males entered a home in the Pine Bluff Area in western Clay County. Scott said the four armed individuals assaulted the homeowners in the front yard and then forced the wife and four small children into a back bedroom. Further investigation has revealed the wife and the four children (all under the ages of 10) were locked in a closet while the victim was allegedly robbed of approximately $1,150.00.

Arrested were: Emmett Buchanan, age 43 of Houston, Clarence Mitchell, age 22 of Houston and Hakeem Upchurch, age 21 of Houston. All are charged with Burglary of a Dwelling, Armed Robbery and 5 counts of Kidnapping.

The individuals are being held at the Clay County Detention Center awaiting a court appearance at the Clay County Justice Court at 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017.
