Two separate traffic stops initiated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit resulted in the arrest of Stacy Berry, age 35 of West Point on January 19th on Hwy 50 West and Carl Haughton, age 52 of West Point on January 20th on Old Vinton Road. Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that investigators seized approximately 4 grams of liquid Methamphetamines (along with syringes) and a misdemeanor amount of Marijuana during Berry’s traffic stop. Scott said Berry was additionally charged with 2 counts of child endangerment in relation to the narcotics found on Berry. The second traffic stop resulted in Haughton being charged with DUI-2nd and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (approximately 1 gram).
Berry and Haughton remain incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center. Bond has been set for Berry at $16,556.00 and $6,431.75 for Haughton.
Scott said the K9 Unit continues to be an effective tool in fighting illegal narcotics in our community.
