At approximately midnight on February 7, 2014 Clay County Sheriff Deputy Everett Quinn sustained minor injuries in a one vehicle accident on Siloam-Griffin Road in Western Clay County. Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that the patrol car struck a cow on the road, spinning his patrol car out of control into a utility pole. Scott said the impact caused the gas tank to rupture and engulf in flame resulting in a total loss of the patrol unit. Scott stated Deputy Quinn was wearing his seat belt and airbags did deploy which investigators felt prevent serious injury to Quinn. Quinn was transported by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center-Clay County where he was treated and released.
