Michael Melton

On February 26, 2014 investigators with the Clay County Sheriff Department charged  Michael Melton, age 38, of 416 Higgins Alley, West Point with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and felony fleeing. Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that a traffic stop then turned into a pursuit across the city of West Point and ended with the apprehension of Melton at the intersection of South Eshman Avenue and Churchill Road. Law enforcement officials seized cocaine and cash from the traffic stop. Scott stated the approximate street value of the drugs was $1,600.00. Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the West Point Police Department assisted in the arrest of the individual. Melton is currently incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center. No bond has been set as of press time and has a hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
