Tony Washington

A joint operation conducted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics resulted in the arrest of a Clay County Detention Officer. Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that Tony Washington, age 41 was arrested and charged at the Detention Center with Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Facility. Sheriff Scott stated the lengthy investigation revealed a scheme for profit accepting money to provide illegal contraband to incarcerated individuals. Washington remains incarcerated and is awaiting a probable cause hearing scheduled for this afternoon in circuit court. Sheriff Scott said these types criminal acts committed endangers the safety of inmates and jail staff by the introduction of contraband including cell phones, drugs and weapons.
