The Clay County Sheriff Department will participate in the national drunk driving blitz – Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, DUI Enforcement Mobilization during the New Years Holiday Season. The enforcement activity period will be conducted from December 30, 2015 through January 1, 2016. The Clay County Sheriff Department will coordinate with the Mississippi Highway Patrol conducting checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the county during this time. Law Enforcement Officers will also be checking for seatbelts and other traffic violations.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that his department is focused on determent of drinking and driving and urges citizens to use these tips:

Designate a non-driving driver to make sure you and everyone with you arrive home safely.

Don’t get in a car with someone who has been drinking.

Obey all traffic laws to ensure safety to and from your destination.

Do not provide or purchase alcohol to anyone underage.
