On April 8th Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an accident call on Hwy 47 in Clay County. Deputies charged James Curtis Woods, age 39 of West Point with DUI-3rd, Suspended Drivers License, No Insurance and Animal Cruelty. Sheriff Eddie Scott stated the animal cruelty charged resulted from deputies discovering a pit bull in a cage in the back end of the truck. Scott said the pit bull was bleeding and had injuries consistence with dog fighting. The dog was transferred to the West Point Animal Control where the dog was sent for further treatment. Woods remains incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center.
